River Beach Camps (also referred as rafting camp / beach camps / river camps), are river side camps on the Ganges that are located from NIM beach in Rishikesh upto Kaudiyala in a stretch of 38 kms.
These camps are always associated with rafting day trips, and rightly so, because rafting is the main activity that is conducted with these camps as base.
On Ganga these camps are operational through out the year, except during the monsoon (July - August).
Activities: Rafting is the main activity at the River Camps. Apart from rafting beach games like volleyball are available at most of the camps.
Other activities like rappelling / rock-climbing, fun kayaking, day hikes may be provided by the camps, but not all the camps have the facilities.
These camps are on river beach, and this land is owned by the Uttarakhand forest department and is given on lease for operating camps. So these camps have to adhere to forest rules and regulations.

Accommodation in River camps is in tents (mostly made of canvas). These tents are meant for 2 people
Electricity: There is no electricity at the camps. Hence no A/C, coolers, fans, or charging docks.
Toilets: are dry pits, with commode on top. Toilets are not attached to the tents; they are at a common place within the camp.
Exceptions:
Unlike the above mentioned camps some camps are on private land. Hence they are not bound to follow the rules laid down by the forest department. So they have the luxury to provide flush toilets, even electricity, and permanent structures. Such camps may or may not be next to the river's sandy beaches.
Thumb rule: If the accommodation is in tents, but toilets are attached, or camp has electricity, then it is not a river beach camp on Ganga, possibly it is a jungle camp or a resort / lodge.
