The page has just one objective; to make you aware of the possible dangers and minimize the chances of any mishap by providing you guidelines that you can always follow irrespective of whether you are visiting a camp, participating in a river run, or just spending a peaceful day by the side to the river.
If you are on Ganga or any other high volume river for that matter; please follow the below points:
1) Never go into the river without a life jacket. No matter how good you are at swimming.
2) Never go alone, ensure that you are being watched. If you have river professionals around; the better it is for you.
3) Don't do a particular section of the river just because others in your group are doing so. Always listen to your inner self. If you are not comfortable then do not attempt.
4) If you are asthmatic do tell this to your river guide, to ensure that he is aware of you and keeps a watch on you. Do not forget to hand over your inhaler to your river guide to keep it safe from water.
5) If you are a heart patient, then to not participate in river runs; it's just not worth it.
6) If someone nearby is in crisis in the river, and you yourself is not good at rescue, then do not attempt to do so. Better raise an alarm and get someone who can be of better help. Remember in such a situation you can be of better help being outside the water rather than taking a plunge.
