River Ganga - Season details

Rafting season on the Ganga is for 10 months September to June. July and August officially closed, as the volume of water is very high because of the monsoons.

Month wise breakup
September Season starts, and by mid September beach camps start operating.
October - November Excellent time, clear water, good water temperature
December Winter sets in, but again a good time to visit and celebrate the year end holidays.
January - February The coldest of the months but people still keep coming. By mid of Feb temperatures start getting back to normal.
March - April Excellent time, clear water, good water temperature
May Not the best time but a good option to beat the heat of North Indian summer. But be aware if you don't indulge in water activities, it is unbearable to stay idle at the camps.
June Last month of the season. Water levels starts increasing, strong winds, and by 15th of June almost all the camps windup.
July - August No Rafting, No beach camps

Shivpuri and surrounding areas are warmer in winters and more comfortable that the metros cities of North India, like Delhi because of 2 reasons

(a) Sun is brighter during the day because of the pollution free air.

(b) Unlike Delhi; Shivpuri and surrounding areas doesn't get fog in the first half of the day.

As far as the evenings are concerned it's cold and that's why you enjoy the evening bonfire to the fullest.
